Shortcut to Glow

At My Health Guardian, we believe that glowing, dewy complexion is not the birthright of celebrities alone. Each one of us is a diva in her way and has claim to the glow. With social circuit becoming hyper active in the coming months as attending wedding functions, Christmas and New Year celebrations will dot your calendar, it’s high time you begin to concentrate on the glow factor. Archana Jha Darshan tells how…
Glow is a reflection of your health and well being. The process to attain it begins from what you eat and how you live. To begin with give your system a rest and benefit with the detox fast. Once a week or a fortnight, make fruits and fresh vegetable juices your staple diet. You’ll be amazed at the results. You just can’t discount the sleep factor. Concentrate on your unadulterated snooze time and begin to develop a work life balance to put the lid back on the stress. Do yoga, listen to relaxation tapes and do things that you always wished to but could never find time for. Your mood will improve and it will reflect on your face.
All beauties need to do a refresher course in cleansing, toning and moisturizing. If you find cleansing a pain, keep facial wipes close by. To these three basic principles of skin care, add exfoliation too. Hunt for a gentle exfoliator which has circular beads or grains for abrading action. All skin types can benefit with peel away face masks as it gently removes the top most layer of the skin, suggests Dr. Shehla Aggarwal, dermatologist with Mehak Skin Clinic. Couple of aspirins diluted in rose water or aloe vera gel makes a good exfoliating face pack which removes the dead layer of the skin. Once a week or often wear a gentle face mask which you can whip with ingredients like egg white, honey, corn flour, almond oil. Lemon juice added to face masks helps reduce pigmentation. Before you hit the sack, use a good nourishing cream on your face which has ingredients like jojoba oil, glycerine, suggests Dr. Urvashi Kaw, Consultant Dermatology with BLK Memorial Hospital and do not forget the sunscreen. Nourish your skin and it responds by glowing from within.
Getting a facial is a shortcut to the glow factor. Facials thoroughly cleanse your skin and remove the topmost dead layer of the skin, revealing the new skin cells. This allows your precious creams to nourish these skin cells which results in luminous complexion.
Then there are some beauties who find facials messy, including yours truly. What options they have? Plenty, says Dr Kaw, from jet peels, mesotherapy, microdermabrasion to lactic acid peels….The bold and the beautiful can take her pick. These therapies can be performed only by a professional dermatologist, warns she.
In jet peel a supersonic mist of cold, pressurized water, and special serums is used to deeply infuse right into the dermal layer of the skin, which is the deepest part of your skin. Your epidermis is the outer most part of the skin, which only lotions or certain creams can penetrate, but they can’t reach the dermal layer, where the major changes occur and the jet peel does this. In mesotherapy cocktail of nourishing nutrients for the skin are injected through the mesogun. It nurtures the skin instantly. Lactic acid peel is gentler than Glycolic acid peel and helps slough off the dead layer of the skin that gives your face a sallow appearance. A session of any of these treatments will cost you between Rs. 2,000 to 3,000, informs Dr Kaw.
In ultimate analysis glow is a reflection of your health and well being. The process to attain it begins from what you eat and how you live. Think positive and live well. Watch the glow envelop you all over.
