Perfect Balance: Soak Up and Shed Off Makeup
7 Easy Steps to Remove Makeup

Removing MakeupAll over their busy schedules people never miss to put on makeup; but yes, one thing for which everyone runs short of time is to take makeup off at night before going to bed. Removing makeup is a must to let skin breathe & rejuvenate overnight so that it does not lose its natural charm. But, in lack of proper awareness people mostly happen to sleep with makeup not removed properly, and thereby, leading to various skin problems.

My Health Guardian is here with seven easy makeup removal fixes that would help to keep your skin supple and nourished. There are basically two types of makeup which are in the daily kit of a female. The first type is oily makeup that comprises lipstick, eyeliners, mascara & liquid facial makeup and the second category is non oily ones, which include eye shadow, blushes, powdered makeup, mineral makeup, etc. And both types require specific method of removal.

7 Easy Step-wise Methods to Remove Makeup:

  • Secure your hair with a hair band or tie them in a pony tail.
  • Clean your neck and area behind the ears.
  • Start with removing eye makeup first, as the skin around the eyes is very sensitive.
  • Remove lip makeup using cotton ball dabbed in cold cream or cleanser.
  • Come to face. Start with cleanser, toner and then follow it with a face wash.
  • Gently pat your face with a soft towel.
  • Lastly, apply a night cream/gel on your face, suited to your skin type.

Quick Makeup Removing Techniques:

Wet-wipes: These are handy and very comfortable to use. Use them for cleaning lipstick, eye shadow, or for changing the color of your blush. It helps removing the coated layer instantly and leaves skin easy to breathe.

Cleanser: Use cleansing milk for cleaning foundation and blusher from the face. Take cotton dabbed in cleansing milk and swab it on the face well in an upward direction until makeup comes off. Cleansing milks and other white creamy cleansers are best to use as it helps a lot in removing dust from inside and also opens the pores to give suppleness to the face skin.

Toner: Gulab Jal is the best natural toner. You can also use toners of various brands to tone your skin and to tighten the pores of your skin.

Face Wash: Take face wash suited to your skin type on your palm and rub to generate lather. Apply gently over the face & neck area, covering nose, cheekbones & lips. Rub smoothly for 2-3 minutes to penetrate in the skin and then rinse.

Peel Off Mask: Using a peel off mask, once a week creates extra charm in your skin. Peel off works as an instant facial without massage and therapy. Dr. Shehla Agarwal, dermatologist, suggests that peel off masks remove the top most dead layer of your skin and are gentle enough for most skin types. With the dead layer gone, your expensive night creams get a chance to work on the inner layers of the skin. Go for these at least once in a week.

Natural Remedies:

There are some natural kitchen available items, which are also considered perfect for cleaning the skin from deep inside. A list of such homemade makeup remover/cleanser is entailed below:

  • Cucumber Juice
  • Coconut Water
  • Raw Milk
  • Milk Cream (not recommended for oily skin)
  • Plain Yoghurt (Curd)
  • Solution of Honey and Rose Water
  • Paste of Besan and Milk
  • Combination of Yoghurt and Rice Grain Powder (Natural Scrub)

Apply fresh cream with a drop of lemon juice and honey at night to wake up with supple & smooth skin.

For Eyes: Use olive oil to wipe off mascara, eyeliner, and eye shadow as oil is very gentle for skin around the eyes and it easily removes makeup. Olive oil is also considered a growth booster for eye lashes.
