20 Tips to Duck Cold Season

More or less winter is a healthy season, but, this is also the time when sneezes, wheezes and flu become quite common. Asthmatics know that it doesn’t take long for a sneeze to turn in a wheeze. And at times you may get a feeling that germs are out to get you and however hard you try, you just can’t duck them.

Guardian Health Chronicle tells you what to do so that you don’t fall sick this season.

No Excuse to Exercise:

  1. Instead of early morning brisk walk go for late evening walks to let your body accommodate well with change in temperature.

Eat Right:

  1. Consume amla, oranges, carrots and leafy greens to stock up enough Vitamin C. It keeps your immune health in robust condition and work as antidepressant.
  2. Eat high protein foods like fish, meat, eggs, peanuts, walnuts, gram flour, soya milk, etc. to keep your body warm and active throughout the cold days. 
  3. Eating 4 dates a day boosts your energy instantly.
  4. If you are feeling low and lethargic in the morning, instead of reaching out for a can of carbonated energy drink, try honey to beat the blues.
  5. Take a glass of hot milk with a teaspoon of honey to calm the soul and induce sleep.

Drink Right:

  1. Consume 2 glass of water in 10 minutes gap before taking breakfast, lunch, dinner, or during an afternoon snack to crush false hunger.
  2. Swap coffee with green tea; it will help you de-stress and replete you with antioxidants.
  3. Drop orange or lemon slices or frozen berries into a water pitcher for few hours, the water will have a lot more flavour and still next to zero calories.

  5. To drop a dress size in 4 weeks, diminish your dinner platter to a bowl of soups.
  6. Eating five or more servings of fruits and vegetables a day and less saturated fat can help reduce more.

Get Gorgeous:

  1.  Smooth few drops of olive oil or badaam rogan oil over your face, elbows, knees, and the backs of your arms every evening to refresh and hydrate your skin without leaving a greasy residue.
  2. A blend of honey and cream makes a perfect skin conditioner. Apply daily for 15 mins to sheen in winter.
  3.  To get rid of the tanning occurred in winter apply juice of tomato twice every day.
  4. Massage your lips with coriander leaf juice for soft and rosy lips.
  5. For soft, young-looking hands and feet, slather on moisturizing cream and then slip on thin-fabric socks and gloves while you sleep.
  6. Massage your body with concoction of one cup of sugar, salt and olive oil each, for 15 minutes to bring back the lost glow.  

Stay Well:

  1. Chew raw garlic every morning to ward off cold and infections.
  2. Two doses of a powdered mixture of tulsi seeds and ginger everyday also ensures quick healing from cold.
  3. Drink warm milk with turmeric powder in it to ward off cold and improve your immunity.
