Asthma, Food and You

There is no diet that will alleviate asthma symptoms, but there some foods termed as best and worst for asthmatics. Here comes four best and worst food for asthma:

3 daily must eat things:

  • Apples: The beneficial compounds in apple known as flavonoids, in particular, khellin, has been shown to open up airways, so it eating two to five apples a week is encouraged to lower the risk of asthma attack.
  • Orange, broccoli, sprouts and tomatoes and other Vitamin C rich food is good for asthmatics as it is a potent antioxidant that wards off lung damage by fighting free radicals.
  • Coffee and black tea acts as a bronchodilator that improves airflow, so these are too beneficial to incorporate.

3 things never to eat:

  • Beer, wine, hard cider, juice and tea troubles your breathing and sulfites is the ingredient in these that is to blame. So say no to these avoid the triggers.
  • Avoid anything pickled too if you have a reaction to sulfites to stay away from asthma.
  • Egg allergy aggravates asthma too so good say no to egg.
  • Peanuts can provoke potentially fatal allergic reactions in some people and allergic asthma in others.
