What Your Body is Trying to Convey

Man-looking-at-skin-in-mirror-758495Our body throws sufficient signals, if only we stopped and listened. Many a time we are ignorant of the signals given by the body and its implications. Read ahead to know what each sign meant—-

Eyes

Eyes can divulge a lot about your health conditions. Go in the mirror and check your eyes carefully

• If the whites of your eyes are truly yellow, you could be suffering from jaundice caused by liver dysfunction.
• A milky white ring around the iris (the coloured part of the eye) is a sign of high cholesterol.
• To check for iron deficiency, pull your lower eyelid down slightly. If the inner lids are a very pale pink (not bright pink, as they should be) this could be a symptom of anemia or low iron.
• Small, yellowish lumps above and below your eyes are deposits of fat and could signal high levels of unhealthy LDL cholesterol.

Teeth and gums

• Gum disease and cavities can give clues for diabetes and heart disease
• A lose tooth could be a signal for osteoporosis.
• Recurrent mouth ulcers tell about your digestive health. Also they say that you can be deficient in vitamin B complex.
Stick out your tongue
• White coating on the tongue—Some sort of infection present within the body
• Too dark coating of the tongue—Ideally tongue should be pink in colour, but if it is too dark, it means that you are drinking a lot of coffee, smoking or chewing tobacco can stain the tongue a brownish shade.
• Bumpy surface—If your tongue has spots that are very red or white, is painful and tender, and most importantly, doesn’t go away, get it evaluated.

Hands and arms

• Small bumps–Feel the backs of your upper arms – if you have lots of little rough pimples there, you may not be getting enough essential fats in your diet.
• Cold hands–If your hands are cold even when the weather’s not, you’ve probably got bad circulation.

Nails

• Ridges–Some people have ridged nails naturally, but suddenly developing them could be a sign of anaemia.
• White marks on nails–They mean that you’re deficient in zinc.
Skin
• Pimples—You may be way past puberty but still you can get spots owing to see-sawing level of hormones.
• Moles—Any change can be an early sign of skin cancer. Look out especially for moles that grow, itch, bleed, become crusty or look mottled in colour. New moles also need to be checked out.

Legs and ankles

• Obvious veins– You may not be active enough. If you’re sedentary, blood can pool in the legs making them feel tired and heavy, over time, this could lead to thread and varicose veins.
• Puffy ankles– A classic sign of water retention. This is actually often caused by dehydration – if the body is not getting enough fluids, it hangs on to the little it has.
