Spicy Oats Upma



  • 3 tablespoon oats
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ teaspoon cooking oil
  • 1 onion
  • ½ chopped tomato
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1 teaspoon chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 tablespoon soaked dal


Method to cook

Take 3 tbsp oats and add to ½ cup water. Cook on a stove for 2 mins or microwave for 30 seconds. In a pan, take ½ tsp cooking oil and heat it. Add 1 chopped onion, ½ chopped tomato, 2 green chillies and 1 tsp chopped coriander leaves. Saute till slightly cooked. Add 1 tbsp soaked dal (washed black gram ). The partially cooked oats are added to the sauteed vegetable and dal mixture. Cook for a couple of minutes till it acquires a slightly dry consistency. Add red chilli powder and chopped curry leaves to taste. Serve hot.
