Fortify Your Health with Amla Juice

amla-juiceA nectar for all age groups, amla is a panacea for many a illnesses. It is the richest source of Vitamin C, which has the unique property of being stable even after vigorous processing owing to the presence of tannins. The Charaka Samhita says, “Amalaki is the best among rejuvenative herbs.” It is a wonder fruit, which has positive effects right from toe to top.

Improves digestion—Amla fruit enhances food absorption and balances stomach acids. It helps the body digest food better and absorb minerals like iron. Amla does not heat the body, is low in sugar and has a high fibre content, which makes it an ideal daily fruit for almost anyone. Amla syrup is boon in summers, as it not only quenches the thirst, but also checks common summer ailments such as giddiness, restlessness, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, etc. To get rid of intestinal worms, regular intake of one ounce of fresh amla juice for 5-7 days is recommended.

Strengthens the liver- Regular use of amla helps purify the blood and support the functions of the liver. It fortifies the liver, helps it flush out the chemicals and toxins from the body. Fresh amla juice mixed with honey, cures jaundice effectively by acting as a liver stimulant.

Nourishes skin and hair- Amla enhances natural beauty. It is excellent for nourishing the skin and delaying wrinkles. Its long-term use imparts luster to the skin. Amla syrup if applied on the skin lightens freckles. In addition to it, amla strengthens the hair roots and prevents premature greying. It’s local application helps get rid of dandruff.

Helps the urinary system- Consuming 2-ounce fresh amla juice mixed with 1-ounce of honey, thrice a day, pacifies burning sensation in the urine. Amla helps eliminate waste from the body but does not over-stimulate the urinary system. Increased frequency of urination can be checked by intake of amla juice with water, twice a day.

Acts as an antioxidant- A rich source of antioxidants, amla stabilizes free radicals and enhances immunity, thus helping to reduce diseases and slow the aging process.

Supports nervous system- Amla nourishes the brain and mind. It helps sharpen the intellect and mental functioning.

-Amla contains oxalic acid, so patients with history of oxalate stones should not take it.
