Ginger

ginger

Ginger-as a spice and medicine has been around for thousand years. Indian Ayurveda used it to treat a range of ailments. Ginger found an ally in ancient Greece in Pythogorous who was one of the greatest supporters of ginger. ‘Root ginger’ is actually an underground stem or rhizome, which comes from the perennial plant Zingiber officinale. It has been cultivated for so long that its origins are now obscure, but it was probably first grown in Southeast Asia

The gnarled root of ginger more than compensates with its qualities for its lack of appearance. Our kitchen stocks up this magic potion, which is a cure to many ills.
