Oatmeal – a Fat Burning Food
Do you get turned off because of its bland taste? Have it in the form of porridge, instant idli, khichdi with lots of vegetables, in plain milk or add fresh and dry fruits. And for a change, it can even be had in the form of cutlets. But, make it a part of your daily diet. The best thing is that it is a quickie food that doesn’t take more than 10 minutes to cook. And just like other grains oats do not lose their nutrients even after being processed. Doctors and health experts around the world recommend oatmeal for a long and a healthy life.
In order to get all the nutrients from oatmeal, ensure that you take whole grains and not the refined form.
“Daily intake of I bowl of oatmeal in breakfast helps in reducing weight and cholesterol”, advises Ritika Samaddar, Chief Dietician, Max Hospital Saket.
Instant idli with oatmeal
Blend together1 cup of oatmeal with sour curd. Once mixed well allow it to sit for ten minutes. Just before microwaving/ steaming idlis, add half a teaspoon of fruit salt (Eno) and salt to taste (consistency should be of idli batter). Microwave it for seven minutes and it’s ready to eat. Alternatively, steam it and if you wish season it with mustard seeds and curry leaves. You are all prepared to get the oats advantage.
